Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives is a journal that enables the publication of original and innovative scientific researches belonging to geographical approaches (physical, human, natural environment and Geographic Information Systems) that produce solutions for physical and human problems related to time and space, and in this respect, to share scientific knowledge. In this respect, the journal is open to all original articles that produce solutions to human and physical geography problems by applying the science of geography. All works go through a competent and independent refereeing process before publication.
Within the framework of sustainability and development, the Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives accepts articles on theoretical and applied topics related to Physical Geography (Geomorphology, Climatology, Biogeography, Soil, Vegetation, Disasters, etc.), Human Geography (Population, Economy, Tourism, Agriculture, Livestock, Mines, Land Use, etc.), Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing.

1. The journal is a scientific peer-reviewed publication of Atatürk University Faculty of Letters and is published twice a year (June and December).
2. The works to be published in the journal must not have been published in any scientific journal before.
3. The language of writing articles in the journal is Turkish and English. Spelling and punctuation are based on the latest edition of TDK Spelling Guide. The submitted manuscripts should be clear and understandable in terms of language and expression in accordance with scientific criteria.
4. In the studies to be submitted to the journal, for "all kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using survey, interview, focus group study, observation, experiment, interview techniques", the Ethics Committee Decision that the study is allowed to be conducted must be obtained before starting the study and then the study must be completed. Articles should include a statement that Research and Publication Ethics are complied with.
5. In studies that require ethics committee permission, information about the permission (name of the committee, date and number) should be included in the article.
6. Articles to be submitted to the journal should be written in Microsoft Word program.
7. The title of the study should be in capital letters and in bold, in the center of the study, in "Calibri" font, 12 pt. Following the Turkish title of the study, the English title should be written with one space left.
8. The names of the author or authors should be written by leaving one line space just below the title of the study; title, institution (university), author numbers and e-mail addresses obtained from https://orcid.org/register should be given at the bottom of the page as footnotes with (*) sign. If the study was supported by any institution, the name of the supporting institution should be given as a footnote on the same page by placing (*) on the last word of the main title of the article.
9. The abstract of the study should be written by leaving one line space after the author and author names. The Turkish abstract should be at least 150 and at most 200 words. The abstract should be written in "Calibri" font and 9 pt.
10. The English title, abstract, keywords and type of the study should be written with 1 line space immediately after the Turkish keywords, taking into account the criteria mentioned above. The English abstract of the study should be considered as a summary of the study and should be at least 150 and at most 250 words.
11. The study should have Turkish and English keywords consisting of at least 3 and at most 7 words.
12. The main text of the study should start to be written by leaving 1 line space immediately after the English keywords, especially the Introduction. The headings used in the study should be numbered. All headings should be written with the first letter capitalized. One line space should be left before the titles used in the study. In the main texts, the font style should be Calibri and the font size should be 10 points.
13. The paragraph sizes to be used during the text to be written throughout the study should be justified, the first line should be 0.5 cm. and at least 6nk line spacing should be used.
14. The figures to be used in the study should be numbered and named starting from 1 and should be placed under the figure. The font to be used in the references of the figures is 9 pt.
15. The tables to be used in the study should be numbered and named starting from 1 and should be located above the table. Immediately below the table, the references of the table should be indicated in full. The font to be used in the tables and the references of the table is 9 pt.
16. Studies submitted to the journal are evaluated within the framework of the similarity report to be checked at the application stage. Articles that do not comply with research and publication ethics or that are found to be plagiarized are not subject to evaluation. In this context, if the similarity rate detected by TURNITIN or iThenticate scanning programs is above 15%, the relevant study cannot be published even if it receives referee approval. If the study has been published without realizing the situation, access to the relevant study will be blocked and the study will be removed from the publication list and the full issue upon realization of the situation. Again, in line with the report, the similarity rate of articles to a single source cannot exceed 3%.
17. Submission of articles to the journal is made only through the DergiPark system. In order to submit an article to the journal, you must have a DergiPark user account and ORCID ID number.
18. The references used should be indicated in the text according to the author's surname, year and page number system and the author names should be written in uppercase and lowercase. The abbreviation and (and if the article is prepared in English) should be used for two-author references; et al. (et al. if the article is prepared in English) should be used for three or more references. References used in the text should be given in alphabetical order at the end of the text (in the references section) without using numbers. APA 7 version should be taken as basis for in-text references (citations) and bibliography.
19. All responsibility for the published articles and translations belongs to the author/authors.
20. The articles to be published in the journal must comply with the rules of spelling and grammar. The Editorial Board of the Journal has the right to request changes in terms of content and form from the author of the work if deemed necessary.
21. The Editorial Board of the Journal sends the manuscripts that it finds appropriate in terms of format and design to two referees randomly assigned by the computer program, and the articles are published in order according to the completion dates of the referee reports with the acceptance approval of two of the referees.
ETHICAL PRINCIPLES AND PUBLICATION POLICY
The Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives is an international peer-reviewed, academic journal in which original scientific articles that meet the criteria in the relevant discipline are published.
The ethical responsibilities of the publisher, editors, referees and authors of the Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives are set out below. All stakeholders are requested to pay attention to these ethical principles.
Authors are required to upload the conflict of interest form, the article author form and the copyright transfer form to the journalipark system at the time of article submission. (These forms are included in the submission files during article upload)
Publisher's Responsibilities
The publisher guarantees that the editor of Atatürk University Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives and the field editors act independently in their decisions in all processes from article acceptance to publication.
Neither the publisher nor any outside agent may make any request contrary to editorial independence or interfere with the publication process.
The publisher undertakes to provide free access to all articles published in Atatürk University Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives in line with the Open Access principle.
The publisher protects the intellectual property and copyright of each article published in Atatürk University Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives. However, it is obliged to provide a record of each published article.
It does not demand any material and moral compensation from the authors during the article submission and publication process.
While the issue of publication ethics in articles submitted to our journal is the responsibility of the authors, it is also subjected to plagiarism review (Turnitin or iThenticate) by the Editor. This process aims to increase the originality and scientific quality of the articles and to prevent plagiarism.
The publisher, together with the editors, is obliged to take the necessary measures in case of any violations of scientific ethical principles and plagiarism.
If it is determined that an ethical violation has been committed, it may resort to remedies such as remedying this violation if possible, or if not possible, publishing a correction or withdrawing the relevant article from publication.
Editors' Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of the editors to decide which of the articles submitted to the Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives will be published.
The submitted articles are subjected to preliminary evaluation in terms of compliance with the scope and publication principles of the journal, taking into account academic qualities such as being based on research, originality, contribution to the field, and examining new and different developments.
The referee process of the articles whose preliminary evaluation is completed is initiated by the field editors. As a result of the decision of the referees, it is decided whether the articles will be published or not, based on their academic qualifications.
In the evaluation of the articles submitted to the Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives and in the determination of the referees, the characteristics of the author(s) such as gender, ethnic origin, religious belief, political thought, and the institution in which they work are not taken into consideration.
Any private information about the articles submitted to the Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives is not shared with anyone other than the author(s), referees, assistant editors, editorial board and publisher.
The principle of confidentiality is also respected after the article is published or rejected.
Editors may not use the information contained in a study submitted to Atatürk University Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives in their own research without the express written permission of the author(s). Likewise, they may not use information or ideas obtained from peer review for their own benefit.
If a conflict of interest arises between the editor and the author, the editor should ask one of the other editors or the editorial board to conduct the preliminary evaluation and manage the peer-review process instead of him/her.
Articles should not be sent to referees who may have a conflict of interest in the subject matter.
Articles whose preliminary evaluation is completed are sent for peer review without waiting.
The decisions of the referees regarding the article are notified to the authors without waiting and the authors are ensured to make the corrections requested by the referees.
In editorial processes, the deadlines set by Atatürk University Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives are followed.
Referees are selected among the most competent names in accordance with the subject of the article.
The principle of blind refereeing is respected and the information of the referees is kept confidential. In addition, during the submission of the manuscripts to the referees, it is ensured that there is no personal information about the author(s) in the manuscript file.
Care is taken to update and expand the referee pool.
Appropriate language is used when informing the author(s) of the reasons for rejection.
If there are ethical complaints about a published article, necessary investigations are made. The author is contacted and informed about the complaints and allegations. If it is determined that ethical rules have been violated as a result of the investigation, a correction note is published stating that there is an error, inconsistency or misdirection regarding the publication.
Responsibilities of Referees
Peer review is central to the academic publishing process. Reviewers' decisions help editors to make editorial decisions.
Reviewers assist the author(s) in improving the manuscript through editorial communication.
They cannot communicate directly with the authors due to the double-blind peer review system. Evaluation forms and reports are sent to the authors through the journal system via the editors.
A referee who is sent a request for article evaluation should inform the editor as soon as possible whether he/she will referee for the relevant study.
If the referee is not sufficiently knowledgeable about the subject, if the subject of the article is outside his/her field of expertise, or if he/she cannot complete the evaluation within the time limit due to time constraints, he/she should inform the editor and request to withdraw from the refereeing process.
Referees should complete their evaluations within the period stipulated by the journal and should not delay the process.
All information regarding the manuscripts sent to the referees for evaluation should be kept confidential by the referees.
The content of the manuscript should not be shown or discussed with others unless authorized by the editor.
Reviewers should destroy the first versions of the manuscripts they review after the review process. They may only use the final, i.e. published, version of the manuscript.
The principle of confidentiality extends to reviewers who refuse to review because they have obtained title and abstract information.
Reviewers make their evaluations objectively. Criticism of the article should be objective and ethical.
Criticism should be directed at the article, not personal criticism of the author.
Reviewers should express their opinions clearly with supporting evidence.
Reviewers should act in a principled and truthful manner when rejecting an article and clearly report their reasons. Writing the reasons is an ethical responsibility. Appropriate language should be used in the rejection report.
Reviewers should make their evaluations in a constructive and courteous manner.
Referees are obliged to inform the author if they have identified citations that are not cited in the article.
Reviewers should inform the editor if they notice any similarities or overlaps between the manuscript they are reviewing and a previously published work.
Reviewers should refuse to review an article if they have any collaborative relationship with the author(s) whose manuscript they are assigned to review and should inform the editor about the situation.
Reviewers may not use all or part of the articles sent to them for evaluation in their own research without the express written permission of the author. All information, data and ideas obtained during the review process must be kept confidential and must not be used for personal gain. This rule also applies to referees who refuse to evaluate the manuscript submitted to them.
Reviewers may not denigrate manuscripts that do not cite their own work and may not force the author(s) to cite their own work if it is relevant to the topic of the manuscript.
Authors' Responsibilities
The author(s) of the original article should clearly and accurately state how the study was conducted and its significance, and present the results of the study in an objective manner.
The article should be detailed to enable other researchers to conduct similar studies and references should be indicated.
Statements that are untrue or contain deliberate errors are incompatible with scientific ethics and are unacceptable.
Authors should make sure that their articles are completely original and that they cite and quote fully and accurately if they have used other works in their articles.
Plagiarism in any form is a violation of publishing ethics and is unacceptable. Therefore, authors should be careful not to plagiarize in their articles.
The author(s) should be able to make the raw data of his/her research publicly available if requested for editorial review or peer review, and should be able to retain these data for a reasonable period of time after publication.
The author(s) may not submit the manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously for publication.
An article that has already been published in one journal or has been submitted for publication and is under review cannot be submitted to another journal for publication.
It may be possible to republish articles that have been previously published in another journal if certain conditions are met. In this case, the editors of the relevant journals must agree to the publication of the work in another journal and the journal of first publication must be cited.
The author(s) should indicate the sources that were influential in determining their work.
Information obtained as a result of personal interviews should not be used without the permission of the source person.
All sources used in the study process should be indicated.
Publications containing both supportive and contrary results related to the subject of the article should be indicated.
It is an ethical responsibility to acknowledge and thank those who supported the research.
The people listed as authors should be limited to those who made a significant contribution by taking part in all the processes in the preparation of the article. If there are people who contributed at certain stages of the study, they should be indicated as "contributors" and thanked.
If the article has more than one author, one of them should be indicated as the "corresponding author" and this author should be in contact with the editor and conduct correspondence. The corresponding author should ensure that all other authors are involved in every stage of the manuscript from submission to publication.
If the author(s) have any material or moral conflicts of interest that may be considered to affect the results and interpretations of the study, they should indicate them during the submission of the manuscript.
The author(s) should document that they have the rights to use the data they use and the necessary permissions for research and analysis.
Separate ethics committee approval must be obtained for studies requiring Ethics Committee approval, and this approval must be stated and documented in the article.
The author(s) should avoid gender, ethnic origin, religious beliefs, religious beliefs, political opinions, and situations that are defamatory, belittling, offensive to the society and that they think may lead to social reactions.
Copyright Policy
A Copyright Agreement and Authorship Contribution Form must be submitted with all articles. By signing this form, authors agree that if the article is accepted for publication by the Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives, it will be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), which allows third parties to share and adapt the content for non-commercial purposes with proper attribution to the original work.
When using figures, tables or other materials previously published in print or electronic format, authors are required to obtain permission from the copyright holder. Any legal, financial and criminal liability in this regard rests with the author(s).
The authors reserve the copyright of their works published in the Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives.
The Journal of World Geography and Development Perspectives does not charge any fees for the submission, evaluation and publication of the articles.
